The best way for teens to take charge of their health is by getting educated about what it means to be healthy; mentally, physically, emotionally and socially.
In 2024, I want to see teen health on the rise. I want to see teenagers getting the care they need, when they need it. I want to see them taking charge of their own health, managing stress and preventing chronic illnesses, instead of being at the mercy of their parents' schedules. I want to see them having fun while they do it—because that's how you learn more about yourself and the world around you, and that's how you keep yourself motivated to stay healthy and strong!
We need to keep working together to make sure that every one of our youth has access to the resources they need to thrive, including mental health services and healthy relationships with caring adults who can help guide them through tough times.
The best way for teens to take charge of their health is by getting educated about what it means to be healthy, both mentally and physically, as well as socially and emotionally. The more information teens have about their bodies and minds, the better prepared they'll be for whatever challenges life throws at them (and trust me—there are a lot).
But here's where things get tricky: there are so many sources out there giving out advice about how teens should behave in order to be "healthy," but none of them agree on anything except maybe eating well and exercising regularly. The truth is that there's no single right way for all teenagers to live their lives—and even if there were, no one would tell you
The world is changing, and so are teens. The way they live their lives, the things they care about, and even the way they look at themselves are all in flux.
However, despite all the changes happening around them, there's one thing we know for sure: teens will always be teens. They'll always have unique needs that can't be met by just any old health system. And that means it's up to us—all of us—to make sure that when 2025 rolls around, teen health is where it needs to be.
That's why 11-22 Integrative Medicine exists: because no matter what happens next year or ten years from now, we know that teen health becoming lifelong health isn't something you can just slap together overnight—you have to think about it long term if you want to make a difference.
That's why we're here: at 11-22 IM we believe in helping teens get holistically healthy in ways that are meaningful and sustainable for them as individuals living their own lives outside the clinic door.
